It’s true that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, that’s because of genetics. What your parents pass down to you in your genetic code can define your personality, hobbies and appearance. Some common traits that are genetic include blood type, height, smell and obesity.

There are other traits that come along in your genetics that are not as apparent as your hair color, such as drug addiction. As much as 60% of your risk for addiction is made up by your genetic code. Your environment can contribute to the possibility of those genetic traits surfacing. For example, a child of a drug addict is eight times more likely to develop an addiction.
