Economics of Drug Abuse [Video Infographic]

Red Ribbon

October 23-31 is National Red Ribbon Week, an initiative by the National Family Partnership to raise awareness of the impact of drugs on our communities. Many of us know drug abuse causes problems in families across the nation but it also has an alarming impact on the economy overall.

While only 8.7% of America’s population are current drug users, they still cost the economy more than $193 billion in expenses to deal with their actions.

If we could stop drug abuse just in America, we could use the money to end world hunger or even give everyone in the U.S. $950 each year!
